I have a brain that is creative and as a result I find I am always processing things.
How can I change that? How can I do that better? I wonder what that would look like if that was there and that was there?
There are always endless possibilities soaring through my mind and at times I find it hard to keep it still and focused.
I composed this piece of music with the specific intention of creating a space that is quiet and slow and to help me focus upon the moment. To keep my mind in the present and become aware of how I am feeling or what I am sensing or perhaps what I am hearing, or seeing or smelling. But more importantly to be still in the presence of God and know that he is with me and loves me with an extravagant unconditional love.
In the moment I can go to a place where…
striving ceases
regret is washed away
mistakes are forgotten
my heart is spoken to with whispers of love
peace surrounds me
anxiety dissolves
joy abounds
the present moment is all that matters
my needs are ministered to by Holy Spirit
time ceases to exist
I am comforted
I am listening rather than waiting to talk
I feel safe
I am valuable because I am there
In the moment I don’t need to dwell on the past nor worry about the future
In the moment I can be still and know that He is God (psalm 46:10)
About the score… find a sample of the score below. If you are a pianist who is about Grade 5 then I think you would be able to play this. It is not technically difficult but requires mature musicianship for the rubato and to play expressively with a depth of emotion and musicality. If you wish to obtain a full copy of the piano score then please contact Carolyn.
