In the Garden

In the Garden Audio

This piano solo depicts wandering around the garden at Binbrook (our country property) and marvelling at God’s beautiful creation.

The music describes… the variety, the intricacy, the beauty, the thriving, the struggling and the peacefulness within the garden.

On a spiritual level I was drawn to Song of Songs 4:13-15 & 5:1 at the time of writing this. In this passage of scripture, our hearts are described as a garden and we are encouraged to invite God to garden in our hearts.

The music sparked my imagination where I can see God wandering around my heart and cleaning it up a bit. There is a lot of joy in my heart but there is also heartache, sorrow, betrayal, and unrest. There is a lot of love and thankfulness in my heart but also weeds of rejection and worthlessness.

The almighty gardener sees that which can be…  He sees the beautiful person he created me to be and He is very capable of producing a flourishing garden in my heart as long as I invite Him in to do the work.

God speaks to me as I play this music. He is gently pointing out those things in my life that are holding me back from flourishing… not flourishing in earthly terms, but flourishing in a spiritual sense. Once I am aware of these attitudes I can then address them and move forward and more of the beauty of my heart can be displayed.

What are the weeds in the garden of your heart?

Are you willing to invite Jesus in to do some gardening?

About the score… find a sample of the score below. If you are a pianist who is about Grade 4-5 then I think you would be able to play this. It is not technically difficult but requires mature musicianship to play expressively with a depth of emotion. If you wish to obtain a full copy of the piano score then please contact me and I can send you a PDF. There is no cost involved… I just like to know where the scores are going. Thanks
