Come out and Play

Come out and Play Audio

I just love watching my puppies play. Shelties are a playful breed but only when they feel secure in their environment. Our little Theo (tri-coloured) freezes when he is insecure but his older sister, Nala, (sable) gets anxious and makes this terrible crying sound. So it puts such a smile on my face and such joy in my heart when they engage in play. It’s wonderful to see them relaxed playing their game and passionate about their participation. It is then that the true nature of the sheltie is revealed.

When I first wrote this little tune, I thought it was trying to describe the playfulness of my puppies and the quiet joy they bring to me but I soon realised it was God’s way of showing me how he feels about me. God loves everything about me. After all he created me this way in this time in history for His purpose… But I often seem to prefer to hide away as if I was not meant to be here and get anxious about my contribution. God wants to see me engaged in life and passionate about my participation.

My Father God has such a big smile on His face and such joy in His heart when I choose to listen to Him, get involved in life giving activities and come out and play.

In this piece, the opening motif whispers “come out and play, come out and play’…

As you listen ask God in what areas of your life do you need to be brave and “come out and play”?

About the score… find a sample of the score below. If you are a pianist who is about Grade 5 then I think you would be able to play this. It is not technically difficult but requires mature musicianship to play expressively with a depth of emotion. If you wish to obtain a full copy of the piano score then please contact me and I can send you a PDF. There is no cost involved… I just like to know where the scores are going. Thanks
