Although the Storm has passed

Although the Storm has Passed Audio

This piece was inspired by the storms that come through at Binbrook (our country property). We can watch a storm come down the valley towards us for quite some time and then finally it hits us with the rain and the wind. Our valley view disappears and we are engulfed in a mist for a short time before it clears again.  It is at this point we may come to believe that the storm has passed. But there is still rumbling of thunder, flashes of lightning lighting up the valley, spots of rain here and there, gusts of wind and clouds hovering over the mountains… This can go on for even a longer time than it took for the storm to arrive.

One evening as I experienced a storm come through I saw the analogy with storms in our life. They eventually pass and we then appear to continue on with life as normal but the storm can still be around us in our emotions and thoughts, and as hard as we try to get back to the life we had, we can’t seem to shake the storm. It clings to us and doesn’t seem to leave. Even though the storm has passed, something still lingers within us.

Maybe there is something we have not let go of.  Maybe there is something we have not dealt with. Maybe there is something we have not simply accepted.

Time can heal our hurts but sometimes there is an action we need to take to help the process along. Is there someone we need to forgive? Are we perhaps angry at God, or ourselves? Is there something we need to let go of?

Ask God to reveal to you what is still lingering around in your life, causing you pain and distress, even though the storm has passed.

About the score… find a sample of the score below. If you are a pianist who is about Grade 4-5 then I think you would be able to play this. It is not technically difficult but requires mature musicianship for the rubato and to play expressively with a depth of emotion and musicality. If you wish to obtain a full copy of the piano score then please contact me and I can send you a PDF. There is no cost involved… I just like to know where the scores are going. Thanks
