50km to the South at Sunset

50km to the South at Sunset audio

The sunroom at our cottage (Binbrook) looks to the South. On a clear day one can see 50km to the south.

My piano sits in this sunroom facing the beautiful view and from there I enjoy composing. This piece came to life just as the sun was setting over the valley when the colours were shifting in the sky and a shadow was beginning to take hold over the land. The music attempts to capture the beauty of the sunset and yet the music is really only descriptive of a fraction of the grandeur that is God’s creation… such a gift to us as the day winds down and we prepare for some rest after a big day on the property.

God’s sunset is magnificent. My heart lifts in worship as I marvel at the creator and my fingers created a melody as an expression of the creator in me…

About the score… find a sample of the score below. If you are a pianist who is about Grade 5 then I think you would be able to play this. It is not technically difficult but requires mature musicianship for the rubato and to play expressively with a depth of emotion and musicality. If you wish to obtain a full copy of the piano score then please contact Carolyn.
